Silkie smooth - Chicks & Hatching Eggs

Interested in getting into Silkies? We can help out...

Be sure to check with your municipal & city guidelines for keeping chicken - some areas are specific with limitations on the number allowed or may even restrict further to only allowing homeowners house hens. As silkies are notoriously difficult to sex at a young age, if you are purchasing straight run (unsexed) chicks, you should have a plan in place for rehoming males in the event your municipality restricts them.

Not all eggs are equal - at times our hens may lay eggs we consider less than ideal for incubation (misshaped, inconsistent colouration, size difference, cracks or defects seen under light)  We want to ensure the chicks have the best chance for a strong start, so we will not incubate eggs that lead us to believe there may be a disadvantage. We believe in fairness - if we wouldn't incubate an egg ourselves for specific reasons, we do not offer them to others either.

We accept PRE-ORDER requests for hatching eggs (can be shipped within Canada)  *Please note; orders are filled in the order of submission. We do our best to fulfill all orders in a timely manner, however silkies do not lay eggs daily. They only lay 100-150 eggs per year and not all of those are necessarily going to meet our standards. If there is an issue with filling your order based on availability we will contact you to arrange a refund or provide alternate egg selection option(s)

Chicks will be listed when available. We will provide information about them individually. Please note, we do not place chicks 'on hold' they are only considered as SOLD once payment has been processed. We are happy to place you on a waiting list for our chicks, see the section below for more details.

Ready to take the next step?

Are ready for a silkie chick or hatching eggs right away or

do you want to be placed on our waitlist for future hatches?

Either way we are happy to help!

Interested in being on our wait list?

Send us an email to request a spot on our wait list or if you wish to place a PREORDER for hatching eggs.

Please note if you are looking for a specific colouration, we do not take requests for sexed chicks. Our chicks are sold UNSEXED due to young age at the time we typically make them available.

Colourations we will be offering;

  • self-blue lavender (standard silkie feathering) typically SHOW QUALITY
  • chocolate (standard silkie feathering) typically SHOW QUALITY
  • mauve (standard silkie feathering) mixed quality / dependant on which line
  • hens choice (colour will vary from our mixed silkie flock) typically PET QUALITY

Want to know if we have available chicks?

We do occasionally keep back chicks for ourselves and grow them out and determine if they will enter our breeding program or for showing plans. In the event they do not meet our needs we will place them up for sale and can guarantee their sex based on either age or genetic testing and mature colouration & feather placement will be evident. Click the image below to see what we have available (if any) for placement.
